The Story
At its core is a clear architectural concept defined by a gently curving form that establishes a distinctive civic presence while intuitively guiding visitors towards the main entrance. This geometry extends internally, shaping circulation, daylight, and views, and ensuring consistent visual connections to landscaped gardens.

The Challenge
Biophilic design is embedded throughout the hospital. Natural light, access to greenery, and the use of organic materials contribute to a restorative atmosphere within a high-acuity clinical setting. Internally, a light-filled concourse anchors the public realm, offering clarity of movement and moments of pause. Upper-level inpatient accommodation comprises single rooms with panoramic views and access to rooftop gardens, supporting privacy, dignity, and recovery through direct engagement with nature.

The Outcome
Material selection balances durability, safety, and sustainability. Antimicrobial surfaces, renewable timbers, and recycled materials create a robust yet non-institutional environment. Wayfinding is integrated into the architectural language through floral motifs and therapeutic colour palettes, reducing reliance on signage and reinforcing a calm, intuitive user experience.
